Inspiring awareness, appreciation |
ProgramsParadise Meadows Guided Walks Sometimes in the meadows, due to unusual climatic conditions, the early and late flowers bloom at the same time, which makes for an interesting summer! Interpretive walks for Paradise Meadows are funded by the Institute. The 2008 Summer Walks schedule is available for download (75 KB pdf file).
The Vancouver Island White-tailed Ptarmigan Conservation Project was developed in cooperation with Mountain Equipment Co-op, Canadian Nature Federation, and the University of British Columbia. It increased awareness, through public outreach and education for the on-going work of the Centre of Alpine Studies at UBC. The project is officially over, but we will continue to distribute the Record Sighting Cards until they run out, hopefully until 2005. At several trail heads throughout Strathcona Park and Mount Arrowsmith, posters explain the project, show what a Ptarmigan looks like, and encourage the Park visitor to record any Ptarmigan sightings on a record card. Download the record card (150 KB), which you can print out and take with you. |
